PTO MISSION STATEMENT

The Old Union Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a non-profit organization made up of parents and teachers focused on providing programs, resources and services to enrich and maximize the education of OUES students, and to ensure an environment of excellence for our students, teachers and staff. We consist of an Executive Board, Committee Chairs and a General Membership.

The objective of the OUES PTO is to support the students and faculty of OUES in the pursuit of the education of children at OUES through volunteerism, fundraising and the fostering of relationships among the school, parents and teachers.

WHAT IS THE PTO?

The PTO is for everyone!  We have a wide range of volunteers who stay-at-home, work part- or full-time, or haveyoung children at home.  Much of the PTO work can be done from home on your own schedule or at events at night or weekends.  Volunteering is also needed during the school day.  Choose what works best for you.  We greatly appreciate your help with even one event or task per year!

We welcome everyone and are always seeking volunteers for events and programs year-round. We value our returning volunteers and are excited to welcome new ones each year.  We make new friends and enjoy getting to know one another. It’s a great chance to get to know parents from other grades, too.

Last Year the PTO:

  • Had over 275 family memberships
  • Raised more than $130,000 for OUES
  • Spent $12,500 on flexible seating for the campus
  • Coordinated and conducted several major fundraising events including:  Dragon Dash, O’ What a Night and the Daddy/Daughter Dance
  • Purchased new risers for the campus
  • Provided the faculty with over $16K in requested classroom supplies
  • Made over 100,000 copies
  • Purchased over $46,500 worth of curriculum and teaching materials
  • Designed and produced an 80-page yearbook
  • Provided the teachers and staff with more than 15 meals and countless incentives and gifts
  • Shelved thousands of library books
  • Provided teachers and students with field trip and field day bus transportation
  • Funded and coordinated school-wide and grade level programs and presenters like High Touch High Tech, Uncle Chris, and Arboretum class experiences
  • Spent over $14K sending staff members to conferences
  • Coordinated over 60 classroom parties
